World's Most Expensive Diamonds


Most expensive diamond sales record is broken by a successful Petra Diamonds sells 507-carat diamond valued at Rp 332.5 billion (U.S. $ 35.3 million with an exchange rate of Rp 9500 per dollar), on Friday 26 February 2010. Analysts jewelry, as quoted from Reuters, estimating the value of these rocks is among 20 high-quality diamonds, the average value of Rp 237.5 billion (U.S. $ 25 million). Diamonds are bought through a tender that was won by Chow Tai Fook Jewelry Co. Ltd based in Hong Kong. With record-breaking price of the most expensive, diamond has the potential to become one of the world's most important gem. These sales will boost profits Petra for the fiscal year ended in June with production and higher sales. Petra find the gem rocks in September last year. Petra has a 74 percent stake in Cullinan mine in South Africa, when bought from De Beers in 2007. Cullinan mine is the source of several famous diamonds, including the world's largest rough diamond with a carat 3106. The gem rocks cut from the rock Star of Africa which is currently stored in Britain's Crown Jewels. Petra is a member of the consortium to pay Rp 1.406 trillion (U.S. $ 148 million) when it bought from De Beers Cullinan mine, where 45 percent owned by one of the Anglo-American mining group.
